Reeling in the Year [A 2025 CybelAngel Retrospective]

Check out some of our favorite new features, events and milestones from the past year, all designed to keep you safer in an increasingly hostile digital landscape.

A slew of new features put more power in your hands

2025 marked significant milestones in product development, focused on delivering greater value, enhanced user experience, and expanded capabilities across our External Threat Intelligence platform.

Our coverage improvements brought substantial gains across multiple modules. The ASM module received major updates, including API integration for seamless toolstack compatibility and the ability to assign individual threat statuses to each asset—enabling faster, more precise inventory management. We strengthened our Threat Intelligence capabilities with two powerful new features: a Claimed Attack List providing real-time feeds of DDoS, defacement, ransomware, and data leak attacks (with special focus on third-party breach detection), and a TI Dashboard visualizing attack trends by sector, country, and threat actor to help anticipate emerging risks.

We also launched a new catalog of professional services, including curated intelligence services with our TI expert pool, monitoring services for specific attacks or events, remediation support, and comprehensive risk assessments to safeguard M&A operations, supply chains, and VIPs.

On the UX front, we delivered highly requested User Management features with an intuitive new interface, redesigned user lists for better clarity, and role-based permission settings, giving teams greater control, improved security, and simplified management.

Our new Alert App provides full visibility into all alerts, enabling earlier threat detection and deeper investigations. Multiple API improvements enhanced interoperability, including access to claimed attacks via API, more precise ADM asset inventory data, and the entire alert stream accessible through API.

Behind the scenes, we focused on productivity and scalability optimizing our processing performance, databases, and analyst workflows to deliver faster, more accurate threat intelligence at scale.

We delivered a compelling External Threat Intelligence Report

In a year marked by escalating ransomware attacks, geopolitical tensions, and AI-driven cyber threats, we embraced this momentum by publishing our comprehensive 2025 External Threat Intelligence Report. This report shares real-time data that highlights the critical balance between reactive risk management and proactive cybersecurity strategies.

Check out CybelAngel’s 2025 report for examples of the unwavering momentum of cyber attacks and how the external attack surface continues to expand at an unprecedented rate.

  • 68.38% increase in exposed assets compared to the previous year, with a 51% increase in all alerts sent to our clients in 2024
  • 42% rise in reported ransomware attacks, with a staggering 125% increase in active threat groups
  • 10% year-over-year growth in exposed databases, primarily due to user negligence and poor cyber hygiene
  • Significant growth in cryptocurrency and cybersecurity-related platforms, with Bitcoin channels up by 159.38%, Tor by 81.09%, and Hacking channels by 57.92%

Our data reveals that while the average organization has 4,000 visible digital assets, invisible assets—including cloud applications, Shadow IT, supply chain exposures, and IoT devices—are contributing to an ever-widening external attack surface that demands immediate attention.

We’re building the future of CybelAngel, together

This year marked significant milestones in how we attract, develop, and support our team. We launched our new Applicant Tracking System, Teamtailor, to deliver a best-in-class candidate experience, and partnered with Welcome to the Jungle to showcase the talented people behind our technology.

Our commitment to growth extended beyond recruitment. We rolled out dedicated GenAI training programs to expand our technical capabilities, and launched a comprehensive manager development program to support our leaders in their roles. We also began building the foundation for our next-generation career pathways, designed to align with our evolving business needs and anticipate the future of our industry.

People and culture remained at our core. We celebrated together at our Winter Party, where the entire team came together to reflect on our achievements and envision what’s next. Multiple team offsites gave us space to step back, celebrate our wins, and collaboratively plan our next challenges outside the day-to-day office environment.
