Table of contents
The multinational automotive parts manufacturer Eberspächer Group has been struck by ransomware. It is unknown the extent of the attack or who is responsible. As of this publication, their IT infrastructure has been effectively disabled. The Eberspacher Group employs over 10,000 workers with 80 plants spread across 28 countries. The Eberspacher Group provides parts for many of the leading German automotive companies such as Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, and others. With their IT infrastructure paralyzed, Eberspacher Group has been forced to halt production and send employees home. It is not known when systems will be back online. The Eberspacher Group could not be reached via phone or email as those systems were disabled as well. The Automotive Industry, from the major brands to suppliers like the Eberspacher Group, is particularly vulnerable to supply chain attacks and work disruptions from Ransomware. CybelAngel recently published a report “The Race Against External Threats in the Automotive Supply Chain” covering the unique risks faced by the industry and recommendations on how they could protect themselves.
